At Green Guys Appliance Repair, fixing appliances is only part of what we do. We also care deeply about what happens to the parts we take out. That’s why we’ve made appliance parts recycling part of our repair process — and the results are already making a real difference.

Four Months of Tracking, Sorting, and Collecting
Over the course of four months, our technicians carefully collected the old parts we removed during repairs — things like control boards, cooling fans, motors, and electrical components. Instead of discarding them, we tracked and stored them for safe disposal.
By the end of this effort, we had gathered a total of 192 pounds of faulty appliance parts that could have otherwise gone straight into the landfill.

Saving Over 500 Appliances from Disposal
In that same four-month period, we successfully repaired and extended the life of more than 500 appliances across Santa Monica, Brentwood, Pacific Palisades, Venice, and the Westside.
Every one of those repairs meant a customer kept their appliance running instead of replacing it. That’s hundreds of appliances kept out of landfills — proof that repair is both cost-effective and environmentally responsible.

Partnering with Hyperion Safe Center VSQG
This week, we completed the next step in our recycling process by transporting the collected electrical waste to the Hyperion Safe Center VSQG program.
For a $100 program fee, the center ensures that hazardous and electronic waste is handled properly — preventing dangerous metals, plastics, and chemicals from entering the landfill. By using this facility, we know the materials are being processed safely and responsibly.
Why We Do It
To us, repair isn’t just about restoring performance — it’s also about reducing waste and protecting the environment. By combining appliance repair with responsible recycling practices, we:
- Divert harmful materials from landfills
- Reduce electronic waste in our community
- Extend the lifespan of existing appliances
- Provide customers with greener, more sustainable repair options
Looking Forward
This is just the beginning. We plan to continue tracking and recycling parts, with a goal of diverting even more waste in the future.
When you call Green Guys Appliance Repair, you’re not only keeping your appliances running — you’re also supporting a local business committed to sustainable practices and community responsibility.
