At Green Guys Appliance Repair, repairing appliances is only part of what we do. We also believe in taking responsibility for everything we remove from our customers’ homes — including the broken parts that can’t be reused.
This January, we completed another recycling run, responsibly dropping off 250 pounds of broken appliance parts at the Hyperion Safe Center, working with Clean Harbors to ensure proper handling of electronic and hazardous waste.
What Was Recycled — and Why It Matters
The parts collected during this run came from everyday appliance repairs — control boards, motors, fans, wiring, and other electrical components that fail over time due to normal wear and tear.
These materials should never end up in regular trash. When disposed of improperly, they can introduce harmful substances into landfills and the environment. By recycling them through an approved facility, we ensure they are processed safely and responsibly.

Repair First, Recycle Responsibly
Our approach is simple:
- Repair before replace whenever possible
- Extend the life of appliances already in use
- Responsibly recycle the old parts removed during repairs
This process not only helps our customers save money, but it also reduces unnecessary waste and keeps usable appliances in service longer.
Thanks to customers who choose repair over replacement, thousands of appliances have been kept out of landfills — and every recycling run like this one adds to that impact.
Partnering with Hyperion Safe Center & Clean Harbors
For this January recycling run, we transported the collected parts to the Hyperion Safe Center, where Clean Harbors manages proper disposal and recycling under strict environmental guidelines.
Using certified facilities ensures that electronic waste and hazardous materials are handled correctly, rather than being discarded improperly.
A Small Step That Adds Up
Two hundred and fifty pounds may not sound like much at first — but when combined with previous recycling efforts and thousands of successful repairs, the impact becomes meaningful.
Sustainability isn’t about one big action. It’s about consistent, responsible choices made over time — by businesses and homeowners alike.
Looking Ahead
This January recycling run is just one part of our ongoing commitment to responsible appliance repair. We’ll continue to track, collect, and properly recycle the parts we remove — and continue helping our customers extend the life of their appliances whenever possible.
Thank you to everyone who supports local repair, values integrity, and chooses a more sustainable approach
